Maryland Heights, Mo. – Despite what Head Coach Clay Smith called a dominating performance, the Collinsville High School girls soccer team finished with a 0-0 draw against Nixa Friday in the Parkway College Showcase.
The Lady Kahoks outshot the Lady Eagles by a 3:1 margin, hitting the post on three occasions. Collinsville had five corner kicks on the night, compared to one for Nixa, which finished fourth in Missouri’s Class 3A state tournament last season.
“That was the best 80 minutes the team has played all season,” Smith said. “That was the first complete game we have put together.”
Tournament rules ended the game after 80 minutes, with no overtime. The game was the fourth consecutive that the Lady Kahoks (3-1-1) have not surrendered a goal. The only opponent to find the back of Collinsville’s net this season was Chatham Glenwood in the season opening 4-2 loss.
Freshmen Andrea Frerker and Emily Holten joined juniors Sophia Sharos and Mikayla McCarthy creating numerous shots on the goal and the back four played another good game, Smith said.
Collinsville plays its second and final game in the Parkway College Showcase at 7:30 p.m. Saturday against Duchesne, the Missouri defending 1A state champions. The Pioneers won by at least three goals in each of their four matches during their state title run in 2013.
