Collinsville residents can stop wondering if their neighbor is willing to share the $1 million purse from the winning Illinois Lottery’s St. Patrick’s Day Raffle ticket sold at the Moto Mart on Illinois Route 157 in Collinsville. A Swansea man, who works in Collinsville, bought the winning ticket.
Delbert May, 46, won $1,000 three years ago in the St. Patrick’s Day drawing, and thought he had duplicated the feat this year.
“It said I was a winner and I thought the prize would be $1,000. Then I scrolled down the page and, when I saw the number one and then all those zero’s, I freaked out,” Mays said in a statement released by the Illinois Lottery.
May, who was one of four $1 million winners statewide, plans to get professional financial advice and invest most his winnings for retirement. The electrician also plans to go on a Caribbean vacation and buy a new truck.
The Moto Mart on Bluff Road received $10,000 for selling the winning ticket.
