Even B. Wallace, 25, of the 5500 block of Sugarloaf Road, called 911 at 11:40 p.m. Saturday, March 22 and is accused of telling responding Collinsville Police officers that he had been stabbed in his home. Wallace, who had a single, superficial stab wound to the abdomen, told police that the lone attacker had fled into a heavily wooded area nearby just before police arrived, officials said.

Police officers from six neighboring agencies responded to an emergency request from the Collinsville Police Department. A perimeter was established and a search helicopter from Metro Air Support of Saint Louis County was called to assist the search. The Collinsville K-9 unit and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit also responded.

After no evidence could be found to support Wallace’s story, police questioned him further and learned that he had concocted the story.

Bond was set at $40,000 for Wallace, who turned himself in and was released after paying the bond.
