At least one person broke into a house in the 6600 block of Lebanon Road, Collinsville, Monday at 9:17 a.m. and stole a large metal gun safe that contained 31 ounces of silver, valued at approximately $658.
Also in the gun safe was an undisclosed number of firearms, ammunition, US currency and documents. The silver was 12 one-ounce coins, nine one-ounce bars and a single 10 ounce bar, police said.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is seeking help identifying the robber or robbers. A car, believed to be a Ford Focus in the model years 2008-2010, was captured on video surveillance approaching and leaving the victim’s home. The car is pictured in this story.
The car fled the scene traveling east on Lebanon Road towards Clay School Road, police said. The rear, passenger-side door of the car was open, with the safe partially extending from the car.
It appears there are two people in the car as it is approaching and leaving the home. One suspect is believed to be white. There is no physical description available of the second suspect.
