Vicki Hunter, 2nd grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary school, is the Edward Jones Unit 10 Teacher of the Month for February.
Hunter was honored for her leadership in the school and taking on additional responsibilities, Principal Dave Stroot said. “When something comes up, she just takes it on,” Stroot said.
In addition to teaching, Hunter has taken leadership roles in working with the PTA, book fairs and the curriculum committee, Stroot said.
Every child in the classroom was eager to raise a hand and share why Hunter deserved the award. “She makes us really smart,” one girl said. Hunter was also called respectful, honest and trustworthy by students.
One particularly eager student called Hunter “the best teacher ever,” while another boy seemed to be concerned that she is doing too much. “She works too hard,” he said.
