Collinsville Unit 10 has cancelled school for Tuesday, Jan, 21, the seventh day this school year that district schools have been closed for bad weather.
Dangerous winter weather conditions caused the cancellation, a district official said. About an inch of ice and snow fell overnight in the Collinsville area. Temperatures were hovering in the mid-teens in the morning hours, with winds gusting up to 30 mph. The Illinois Department of Transportation is reporting patches of ice and snow on area roads.
The last day of school is now scheduled for May 28, two days after Memorial Day. The district has now used all seven snow days built into the schedule. No other missed days are scheduled to be made up.
