Silent Walk
A silent walk for Martin Luther King Jr. will take place in Collinsville beginning at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19.
The walk will begin with a gathering in the city lot at Main and Seminary. An MLK Jr. Video Collection will be shown on the wall near the American Flag.
Promptly at 7 p.m. a silent walk will progress six blocks through downtown Collinsville to the Reception Hall of Bert’s Chuckwagon at 101 E. Main St. The event will be officiated by Collinsville resident Catherine Lamberg.
Readings will be given by attendees and thoughts will be shared by Herman Shaw. Attendees are welcome to meet on the lot at 6:30 p.m. and either do the Silent Walk for six blocks or go straight to the Bert’s Reception Hall, two blocks up Main.
The committee hopes that this silent event will allow attendees to consider how we treat each other as humans and motivate us find ways to care more for others in our daily lives.
