If you braved the subzero temperatures to get your trash and recycle to the curb Tuesday morning, you will not have to brave the cold to bring your containers back in Tuesday evening.
Republic Services was not able to run their trash and recycle collection routes Tuesday due to bitter cold and the inability to start and stop trucks on streets which still have snow cover. Many trucks would not start due to the cold. Those that started reported back to base due to hazardous conditions, a city of Collinsville spokesperson said.
Service is expected to resume tomorrow with customers typically scheduled for Monday pick up. If possible, some regularly scheduled Tuesday routes will be collected on Wednesday.
Customers should place all trash and recycle out the day after their regularly scheduled pick-up day. Republic Services plans to make up for the lost days wherever possible and have all routes completed by Saturday.
Yard waste services will not run this week, which will allow more trucks to be dedicated to trash and recycle collection. Anyone who had Christmas Tree service scheduled will be contacted by Republic Services directly.
