The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory at 3:30 a.m. Friday that includes Madison County.
The advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Friday. Periods of snow are expected through the afternoon in the Collinsville area, mainly before 4 p.m. Accumulation of 1 to 3 inches and wind gusts up to 20 mph are expected.
A winter weather advisory means that up to six inches of snow is expected. Motorists are advised to plan for slippery roads and a slower than normal traffic. Drivers are cautioned to be alert when approaching bridges, overpasses and curves.
