The Collinsville Police Department recently named Officer Stacy McElroy as the October Officer of the Month.
Sgt. Charles Mackin nominated McElroy for his outstanding work arresting multiple suspects on drug charges and being a leader in self-initiated activity.
Twice during October, McElroy noticed suspects acting suspiciously and, after investigating, determined they were wanted on outstanding felony warrants. One of the suspects admitted that she was at a local business with the intent to burglarize it, but was arrested before she was able to carry out the plan.
McElroy is a self-motivated officer who keeps current on the latest crime trends and is always willing to share his knowledge with other officers, Mackin said. McElroy uses what he learns about the latest crime trends to perform his job better and more professionally, Mackin said.
