Collinsville High School teacher Chris Glynn was awarded the inaugural Edward Jones Teacher of the Month award Monday.
Glynn, a math teacher, was chosen as the November award winner by CHS Principal Eric Flohr and his administrative team. “It was a unanimous choice,” Flohr said.
Looking at the students in Glynn’s class after the award presentation, Flohr summed up why their teacher deserved the award. “This guy really believes in you every day,” Flohr said.
The Edward Jones Teacher of the Month award will be given to an outstanding teacher in Collinsville Unit 10 each month. Rick Kincheloe, of Edward Jones, said he and office administrator Cathy Mifflin had the idea to give the award because it aligns with Edward Jones’ focus of giving back and volunteering.
They considered other ways to give back to the community, but settled on the Teacher of the Month award in part because of the influence teachers have on the lives of his three children, Kincheloe said.
“Seeing the surprise on (Glynn’s) face, you could see that he appreciates it,” Kencheloe said. “We made the right decision.”
