The Madison County Sheriff’s Department believes the same man is responsible for two incidents of home invasion near Alhambra Sunday.

sheriffThe first incident occurred about 12 p.m. in 5100 block of Dauderman Road, Alhambra when a man described as an African-American of medium build and height, approximately 50-years-old and wearing a red flannel shirt and blue jeans entered the home after knocking at the front and rear doors.

The victim confronted the man, who said he was looking for work. The man left the home after he was informed the victim had no work for him. He left the area in a silver, four-door car, possibly with a dent in a driver’s side door. The victim did not report the incident until approximately 3:40 p.m.

The suspect matched the description of man who was confronted while burglarizing a home in the 10000 block of Fruit Road, Alhambra approximately 20 minutes after the first incident. The victim confronted the man, who then fled with a wooden box containing old cell phones, an old pocketknife, an old wristwatch and other items. The box was covered with a striped, maroon and green material. A horse head was embroidered on the material.

The suspect in the second incident was described as African-American, 6-foot 2-inches tall, medium build, approximately 50-years-old with a greying mustache, wearing a read, plaid overcoat and blue jeans. He fled the scene in a green or grey colored , older model, four-door car.

Anyone who thinks they know the suspect or who saw suspicious activity in the area is asked to call the Madison County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center at 618-692-4433, investigations at 618-692-0871 or the anonymous tip line at 618-296-3000.

Investigators from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office want to speak with anyone from the area who had someone approach their home under the pretense of looking for work, directions or someone who lived in the area. This is a tactic commonly used to determine if anyone is home, police said.
