A Blue Star Memorial Highway Marker to honor service men and women will be unveiled during a dedication ceremony at 11 a.m. Nov. 9 in the greenspace next to Home Furniture, between Main and Clay Streets, on Illinois Route 159 .
The Collinsville Garden Club raised funds for the purchase and donation of the marker to the City of Collinsville in celebration of the club’s 50th anniversary.
The public is invited to attend the dedication ceremony, which will be led by Collinsville Garden Club Past President Lavadna Hines. The event will include music, presentation of colors by the American Legion Post 365 and VFW Post 5691, a military tribute, dedication of the marker and acceptance of the marker by Mayor John Miller.
The ceremony will also include representatives of local veterans groups and members of the Armed Forces. A reception will be held immediately following the dedication in the Collinsville Memorial Public Library Community Room at 406 West Main Street.
