The NCERC at SIUE is inviting the community to visit the Center during a series of events next week celebrating its 10th anniversary.
The Center will open its doors for an open house from noon – 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16. Southern Illinois University Edwardsville students, faculty, staff and local residents are invited to take part in tours and learn about the center’s latest research breakthroughs.
The event is sponsored by Siemens Industry, Inc. A free lunch will be available from 12:30 – 1 p.m.
On Thursday, Oct. 17, honors biology students from Edwardsville High School will visit the center for presentations, demonstrations and tours of the facility as part of national “Careers in Energy Week,” which coincides with the center’s anniversary celebration.
Both days, visitors can peruse the Iowa Corn Growers Association’s Biofuels Mobile Education Center. The 45-foot long mobile center features interactive computers, educational displays, videos and fun facts about ethanol. Funding to bring the mobile unit to the Center was provided by the Illinois Corn Growers Association.
