Dorris Intermediate School 6th grader Destiny Johnson was a winner in an essay contest sponsored by Scott Air Force Base.

Destiny’s essay in the Scott AFB Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Advisory Group Mad Science Essay Contest answered why STEM subjects are important to her and DIS. The school received a gift certificate for a free assembly by Mad Science St. Louis thanks to Destiny’s efforts.

Mad Science St. Louis’ shows are intended to inspire student interest in STEM fields.

Destiny is in Mrs. Broihier’s class at DIS.
