The Southwestern Illinois College Student Veterans of America club is collecting gently used coats, hats and gloves to benefit homeless veterans. The coat drive will be held Monday, Nov. 10 through Thursday, Dec. 18 at the SWIC Belleville Campus, 2500 Carlyle Ave.
A kick-off event will take place Monday, Nov. 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Main Complex First Floor Lounge.
“This is an opportunity for community members to serve those who have served their country,” said Director of Veterans Services David Paeth. “No veteran should have to spend the winter without a coat or blanket.”
Donations can be dropped off in the Veterans & Career Services center, Main Complex Room 1245.
