Christmas in Collinsville this weekend

Christmas in Collinsville, sponsored by the Collinsville Main Street Community Association, is happening this weekend.

The two-day event starts with the tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday Dec. 5 at the township office, located at 307 East Main St. Carolers will  join Santa Claus at the ceremony.

Donations for Toys for Tots will be accepted during the Tree Lighting. Attendees are encouraged to bring unwrapped toys.

Participating Main Street businesses will have holiday shopping specials Saturday Dec. 6. The Miner’s Theatre will offer free wagon rides and pictures with Saint Nick from 12-4 p.m.

The Holiday House Tour concludes the festivities. Starting at 2 p.m., Dec. 6 in the historic Blum House, the self-guided tour will take participants through festively decorated homes in Collinsville. The tour concludes at 8 p.m.

The Blum house is a two-story home built by Blum Bell Factory founder J. Henry Blum circa 1906. It is located at 414 West Main St. House tour participants will pick up their informational packet at Blum House before continuing on with the tour.

Tickets for the holiday house tour are $10 and are available at Ashmann’s Prescription Pharmacy, Antiques and Accents by Vadna, the Collinsville Chamber of Commerce office, the CounterTop Shop, or The Flower Basket. Proceeds from the event benefit the Collinsville High School Student Council, CHS Pep Club and Friends of the D.D. Collins House. Tickets may also be purchased from a Student Council member in advance, or at the Blum House on December 7 beginning at 2 p.m.
