Missing Collinsville man with dementia found

Update: The Madison County Sheriff’s Office announced that Walter G. Fedder has been located. Fedder was found alive and, as of late Tuesday night, he was being checked by emergency medical personnel.

Fedder, 83, had been reported missing earlier Tuesday evening by his family after they were unable to find him in his home, where he was last seen.

An 83 year-old man was reported missing Tuesday from his home in rural Collinsville.

Walter G. Fedder, of the 6800 block of Fedder Lane, was last seen in his home at approximately 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. His family was later unable to locate him and contacted the Madison County Sheriff’s department at approximately 7:10 p.m., police said.

Fedder is 5 feet 11 inches and 270 pounds. He is bald with blue eyes. His family reported to police that he has dementia.

The Sheriff’s Department is using search dogs and a helicopter to search for Fedder.

    Have they located Mr. Fedder yet? We watched the helicoptors and planes cirlcle until about midnight. We kept the lights on inside and out hoping maybe he might come up to our house if he saw them on. Praying for him and his family.
