DUI suspect rear ends Caseyville police SUV, with lights flashing

A white BMW struck a marked Caseyville Police SUVĀ at about 1:35 a.m. Monday while the officer was conducting a traffic stop in the 400 block of South Main Street.

The driver of the BMW, whose name has not been released, rear ended the police vehicle, causing extensive damage to both vehicle. The suspect was arrested for suspected DUI.

The Illinois State Police were called in to investigate the accident, Caseyville Police said. Neither the officer nor the suspect were injured.

The officer was working a DUI patrol detail in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Transportation via the Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program
