Softball game to benefit breast cancer patient

The Metro East Recreational Baseball League is hosting a benefit softball game for the mother of a player.

Tina Heal is a single mother to Austin Heal, a pitcher and catcher for the Orange Bandit T5 team in Troy. Heal has battling breast cancer and has just completed chemotherapy and radiation treatments. She has encountered several complications throughout the process.

All parents, players and umpires from the 2014 summer league are invited to participate. The cost is $10 per player rand all proceeds go directly to Heal.

The game will be played at 3 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Collinsville Jaycees Sports Complex

A raffle will be held for a Sew Time Embroidery “Kahok” basket, a Kelly Tracey design “Triad Knight” basket and an item form Elliot Fine Jewelers, Inc. Snow cones, cotton candy, popcorn and drinks will be sold at the concession stand.
