Two from Collinsville awarded $1,000 Anderson Hospital scholarships

Chase Kern and Kaitlyn Korte, of Collinsville, were two of five area students recently awarded $1,000 scholarships from the Anderson Hospital Medical Staff.

The scholarship program was created in 2004 by the Medical Staff Executive Committee to promote advanced education in health careers. “We hope these talented students will come back to the area to practice once they’ve graduated,” commented Dr. Christopher Wangard, Anderson Hospital Medical Staff President.

The scholarship recipients for 2014 were:

Karen Bertels, Edwardsville
SIU School of Medicine   — MD

Jessica Rimkus, Edwardsville
Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine — DO

Kaitlyn Korte, Collinsville
Chamberlain College of Nursing  – RN

Chase Kern, Collinsville
Butler University — Physician Assistant

Jasmine Giannuzzi — Edwardsville
SIUE — Speech Pathology/Audiology
