Caseyville Fishing Derby this Saturday

Caseyville’s annual Youth Fishing Derby will be held Saturday, June 14 in Caseyville Park from 9 a.m. to noon.   This is a free event for kids 15 and under, accompanied by an adult 18 or older.

Sign in starts at 9 a.m. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources fishing demonstration starts at 9:30 a.m., followed by fishing.  Bring your fishing pole, bait and a bucket for fish.  A limited number of loaner poles will be available.

Trophies will be awarded for the first fish caught, the longest fish caught, and the most fish caught within the age groups of 5 and under, 6-8, 9-12, and 13-15.  Participants will receive a hot dog, drink and snow cone.

Preregistration is encouraged but not required.  Registration forms can be picked up at the Caseyville Village Hall, Caseyville Library and local businesses. They can also be printed from the Village website at www.caseyville.org.

The event is sponsored by the Village of Caseyville, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Caseyville Moose Lodge #4, Scott Credit Union and Caseyville hotel/motels: America’s Best Inn, First Western Inn, Motel 6, Quality Inn & Suites and Rodeway Inn.
