Over 40 DIS students participated in the first annual Collinsville Kahok Cardboard Boat Race Saturday, May 10th at Splash City. This great event was offered as a bonus STEM Challenge to all Dorris Intermediate School students.

The DIS STEM Challenge is an after-school science, technology, engineering, and math education program. Various STEM challenges are offered to students throughout the year.

This challenge was to design, construct, and race a boat made of cardboard across the pool at Splash City. Ten teams represented DIS and raced with clubs and organizations from CHS.

Jason Watts, Chris Comrie and Emily Cook helped the DIS students build their boats. Cindy Bednara and Tom Withee from Collinsville High School organized the event.
