Smith’s first home run Saturday was her ninth, good for a new school record. Rachel Scrum and Hailey Jones held the previous record, when they each hit eight in 2011. Smith’s second long ball was the 10th of the year and 13th of her career, only two behind Jones’ school record.

Collinsville (12-12) hammered host Lincoln 16-3 in their first game Saturday, before losing a 13-10 decision to Canton in the final game of the tournament. The Kahoks trailed Canton 10-2 early Saturday, before clawing back into the game. Collinsville also lost 7-3 to Canton in their first game of the tournament.

After scoring only five runs in its previous four games, Collinsville scored nine, 16 and 13, respectively, in its last three. Head Coach Cindy Kolda said the team hit the ball well in the 7-3 defeat to Canton Friday, and she thought the team was on the verge of breaking out of their slump.

The Kahoks smashed their way through the first 12 games of the season, averaging 9.67 runs while compiling a 9-3 record.

Collinsville next plays at 4:30 Tuesday at Alton.
