Professional wrestling is coming to Caseyville Saturday, brought to you by the mayor of East Carondelet.

Wrasslin'Wrestling promoter Herb Simmons has been brining professional wrestling matches to the area for 40 years, and he’s been the Mayor of East Carondelet for 31 of those years. Many of the shows he organizes are fundraisers, such as the one Saturday in Caseyville.

Seven matches will take place, pitting wrestlers from all over the Midwest against each other. Proceeds benefit the Metro East Mutual Aid Group, an organization comprised of the volunteer fire departments of Caseyville, Hollywood Heights, Fairmont City, French Village, Alorton, Brooklyn, Church Road and Midway.

The doors to the Caseyville Community Center will open at 6:30 p.m. and the first match begins at 8 p.m. Matches will end by about 10-10:15, Simmons said. Between 6:30 and 8 p.m., some wrestlers may mingle with the crowd and sign autographs.

The show is appropriate for kids of all ages, from 9 months to 90 years, Simmons said.
