The City of Collinsville announced that Water Department crews will be flushing the new water main recently installed on Illinois Route 159.

AnnouncementsThe work, between Johnson Street and Autumn Avenues, has begun and will continue Monday and Tuesday. The crews will complete work at about 3:30 p.m. each day.

The process will cause “some dirty water issues in the area,” Julie Jackson, City of Collinsville communications coordinator said in a statement. Residents are instructed to run water from the tap until the dirt clears.

Crews will be taking precautions to prevent dirty water issues, but some residents may temporarily have brown water.
