Teen Initiative at the Collinsville and Fairmont City libraries

Thanks to the Project Next Generation Grant, the Mississippi Valley Library District is proud to announce the next round of the exclusive Teen Initiative programs for 7th-12th graders living in the Mississippi Valley Library District or attending a Unit 10 School. Sign-up now to be a part of these exciting programs! The programs are FREE to attend but spaces are limited and registration is required. Teens can participate at either of the MVLD centers, which include both Collinsville and Fairmont City Library Centers. Partners for these programs include the St. Louis Science Center and Gateway R/C. Please call the Collinsville Library at 618-344-1112 or the Fairmont City Library at 618-482-3966 for availability and program dates and times.

March 2014 – Science of Nanotechnology

Through hands-on activities this program will help teens understand the basics of nanotechnology as well as the challenges of working with objects on the nanoscale. Teens will be able to move “atoms,” and experiment with how science and technology are interconnected. Presented by the St. Louis Science Center.

 

May 2014 – CSI: DNA Murder Mystery Dinner

Teens will participate in a dinner DNA murder mystery where they will analyze footprints, clothing, stains, hair samples, suspect profiles, and other mysterious trace samples found at the “scene of the crime” to determine whodunit! Dinner will be served and we will award certificates and wrap up this round of the Teen Initiative. Presented by the St. Louis Science Center.
