The predicted high for Thursday is 45 degrees, which is the average high temperature for Feb. 13 in the Collinsville area. The last time the mercury touched a normal temperature was Jan. 30, when we reached a balmy 46 degrees, four degrees above the norm.

Those who wait in long lines to wash their vehicles today may be shaking their fists at Mother Nature tomorrow if the predicted snowfall arrives. Current projections from the National Weather Service call for snow in the Collinsville area between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Friday, with the heaviest snow in the morning.

Before Friday’s expected accumulation, the area has seen at least a trace of snowfall 21 days this year, for a total of 21.12 inches of snow. On average, about 9.9 inches of snow falls in the area in January and February combined.
