The National Weather Service is calling for another dusting today, mostly between 4-5 p.m., but with possible accumulations until 9 p.m.

A large band of light snow, the length of Missouri and Nebraska combined, is bearing down on the Collinsville area. The system has moved into the O’Fallon, Mo. area. Some towns around Kansas City are reporting more than one inch of snow, with the system still moving through.

The snow will move out by late evening, leaving bone-chilling temperatures in its wake. The overnight low is to be 5 degrees, followed by a daytime high of 14 Monday. Tuesday’s high will be 19, after a Monday night low of -1 degrees.

If the forecast holds true, residents may be able to break out their KAHOKstrong t-shirts on Thursday, with a high temperature expected to soar all the way to 44, which is the average high for mid-February in the St. Louis area. The Catsup Bottle has not felt temperatures that warm since Jan. 30.

Before today’s expected accumulation, the area has seen at least a trace of snowfall 19 days this year, for a total of 21.1 inches of snow. On average, about 9.9 inches of snow falls in the area in January and February combined.
