Seven Kahoks sign letters of intent to play college sports

Four Collinsville High School girls soccer players, two football players and the state’s top ranked triple jumper signed national letters of intent Thursday to continue their athletic careers in college.

Girls Soccer

Holly Bluemner, Southwestern Illinois College – Bluemner was a first-year starting goalkeeper for the Lady Kahoks in 2013. Bluemner was in the net for 10 shutouts and her goals against average was less than one. The Lady Kahoks went 17-7 in 2013, including winning nine consecutive matches before falling in the Super Sectional to eventual state champion Naperville North.

Matty Merlak, Webster Universtiy – Merlak will be a four-year starter for the Lady Kahoks and two-year captain. A defender, Merlak was named to the Southwestern Conference All-Conference team following her sophomore and junior seasons. She also received academic All-conference honors.

Chelsea Noser, Webster University – Noser is a three-year letter winner as a forward for the Lady Kahoks. She helped the 2013 squad win a conference, Regional and Sectional championship.

Allysa Blaylock, McKendree University – Blaylock is a three-year letter winner as a defender. She will play for a Bearcats team that finished 7-6-6 last year.

Track

Kayla Marshall, Central Michigan University – The top ranked triple jumper in the state, Marshall was 1st team All-Southwestern Conference and 3rd team All-State in 2013. She jumped 38-feet, 8.5 inches in the triple jump last year and was an honorable mention in the long jump and 4×100 meter relay.

Football

Harry Uyehara, McKendree University – Uyehara was a three-year letter winner as both an offensive and defensive lineman. The 6-foot-4 Uyehara, 285-pound Uyehara started 18 games as a defensive lineman and nine as an offensive lineman. He is expected to play defense at McKendree.

Sam Wilson, Quincy University – Wilson was 100 percent accurate during his 18-game career as a CHS longsnapper. He was a highly-rated longsnapper after attending a number of statewide camps. He is expected to be the Hawks starting longsnapper his freshman year

These seven athletes join Lauren Witte (volleyball – SWIC), Lauren Chiarelli (volleyball – Lewis and Clark), Kadie Ringering (softball-SWIC), Jessica Ledford (softball-Quincy) and Tanner Houck (baseball-Missouri) as 2014 CHS seniors continuing their athletic careers in college.
