A 32-year-old Belleville man has been charged with reckless homicide and driving under the influence of drugs in relation to an accident that killed a Caseyville pedestrian Wednesday.

The St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Shaun J. Schmierbach, of the 3200 block of Frank Scott Parkway relation to a

traffic crash Wednesday at approximately 1:30 p.m. in the area of Illinois Route 157 and Garden Avenue. Caseyville Police found a pedestrian who was killed from extensive injuries suffered from the impact of a vehicle.

Schmierbach was transported to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries suffered during the crash.

Bond was set at $750,000. Schmierbach is being held in St. Clair County Jail.
