Three people have been charged in connection with burglaries at two Collinsville homes in the past week.

Dylan R. Bird, 20, of Collinsville, Joshua M. Cooley, 24, of St. Louis, and Jessica E. McCarty, 19, of Vandalia, were charged with felony burglary from a Collinsville home on Lakeview Acres Drive on Oct. 17. The owners reported $50,000 in jewelry and $300 in currency taken from the home.

Bird and McCarty were taken into custody on Oct. 19. About half of the stolen jewelry was recovered the same day. Cooley is being sought by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone with knowledge of Cooley’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Madison County Sheriff’s office at 618-692-6087 or through the anonymous tip line at 618-296-3000. Cooley has ties to the area. He formerly had a rural Troy address, Captain Mike Dixon of the Madison County Sheriff’s department said.

Additional felony charges were filed against Bird and McCarty after the Madison County Sheriff’s Office connected them to a theft from a home on Louise Drive, Collinsville that was reported on Oct. 19. Sterling silver flatware, a camera and a collectible knife were among the items taken in the incident.
