The Collinsville boys soccer team defeated non-conference opponent Windsor 4-0 Thursday behind Cody Sanftleben, the new Southwestern Conference leader in goals and points scored.

Sanftleben, a senior midfielder, led the charge for the Kahoks, scoring two goals and adding a pair of assists. His 11 goals and 27 points scored this season are both tops in the conference, one goal and two points clear of Edwardsville’s Brent Heinlein. Sanftleben has benefited from the recent change in formation moving him higher up the field, scoring seven goals in the past six matches.

Winners of three of their last four, and four of six, the Kahoks (1-3 SWC, 8-10-1 overall) four goals continued their recent scoring resurgence. Collinsville has now tallied 11 goals in their last four matches.

Luis De Anda scored his third goal in those four matches. The sophomore midfielder now has four goals on the season.

Junior midfielder Grant Bauer’s goal against the Owls (5-9) was his first since scoring five on consecutive nights, Sept. 3 and 4. Bauer added an assist against Windsor, from Imperial, Mo., to run his team-leading total to six.

The Kahoks play their first league contest in nearly two weeks when they host Belleville East at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at Kahok Stadium. Collinsville concludes its regular season with a 6:45 p.m. contest Thursday at Alton.
